What is life coaching?

Life coaching is about identifying your dreams, shifting your perceptions, and creating action on the things that matter most in your life. The coaching method uses probing questions to address limiting beliefs, behaviors, and habits that keep you small. Your coach will support you in creating manageable steps to success.

Who is Life Coaching for?

Life coaching is for people who are ready to take on the next step in life and do the work. It's for individuals who are ready to be vulnerable, to be brave, and to address their blind spots. People who are ready for change, excited to venture into the unknown, and embrace their gifts will have amazing results.

What can I expect from a session?

My one-on-one general coaching is customized to meet your current needs and concerns. Depending on what your life looks like right now, a session might address overcoming procrastination, aligning your career to your purpose, or how to navigate confrontation. In our sessions you will be heard, given space to process, and valued in a way that lifts you up and propels you forward.

I prefer to work in 60 minute intervals. We will take a moment at the beginning to let the day go and set an intention for our meeting. The bulk of the time will be spent discussing a topic of your choice through a series of probing questions. In my experience, by the end of the hour clients have a clear idea of what their next steps need to be. We will commit to a follow up action. (I.E. Call that manager, buy that website domain, etc.)

Afterwards, you can expect an email from me outlining our discussion and goal you’ve set for the next appointment.

Isn’t Life coaching just counseling?

Coaching is different than counseling, but each have value!

Counselors ask, "What happened, and how did you feel?" Coaches ask, "What can you do moving forward?" Counselors heal. Coaches propel.

That's not to say there isn't lap over. But a coach’s goal is to help you find actionable steps to change your life.

Why should i trust a coach?

We aren’t counselors. We aren’t bound to their confidentiality or mandatory reporting laws.

That being said, what we discuss stays in confines of our hour session. Any ethical coach would assure you of the same.

I want you to find your values and be inspired to take action on them. That’s it. Sometimes, that means ugly crying and just getting something off of your chest. Your sadness is safe with me. Sometimes, you’re in the mood to break through old habits and kick ass. I’m on board for that too. Each session is specific to you and your needs.

Our sessions are safe place. When I’m there with you, we are in the present. All things said in that space are left there.

So,do coaches have training?

I am a certified life coach through Seattle Life Coach Training. They offer a 120 hour intensive training course (excluding homework). Not only do they teach the tools of coaching, but they expect you to experience coaching yourself. Integrity is key!

Coaching remains a fairly unregulated field at the moment which has its pros and its cons. I personally believe that to be a coach, you must do the work. That is why insisted on getting training and regularly work on improving my life and checking my own blind spots. I continue to learn through reading, seminars, and courses related to psychology, coaching, toxic family dynamics, cults/high-control religions and personality analysis.

In my opinion, any professional should always be learning. If I expect the best of you, I must expect that of myself.
